Hong Kong Coalition for a Free Burma organized an Interfaith Candlelight Vigil on 9 March, Sunday at Star Ferry area, Kowloon in observance of the Global Day of Prayer for Burma.
The theme of the Vigil was “Justice and freedom for women in Burma,” in view of the International Women’s Day on March 8.
The two-hour programme was consisted of video updates about Burma and video clips showing the plight of women in Burma, prayers and reflection by religious leaders, street play by women and students to condemn the ruling military junta for their repression on the people of Burma.
More than 80 people from various people’s organizations and local and migrant institutions attended the event. It was a very engaging night!
At the end of the vigil, the petition of the HK-based formation was read to the public and people signed after.
