February 22 to 23, 2005
The Core Team of EASYNet met on 22-23 February 2005 in Hong Kong to evaluate on the Asia Student and Youth Gathering (ASYG) that was held in Indonesia in December 2004, as well as to concretise programme plans for 2005.
The evaluation from the participants of ASYG 2004 has been positive but it was felt that the age gap could have been tighter because this hinders communication. Also, the workshops could have been more helpful if they are facilitated in approaches that are interactive and participatory. The Core Team values this feedback and will keep these evaluations in mind when planning for the next ASYG.
In May 2005, EASYNet will organise the annual Writing Workshop with the theme Economic Justice and Education. The venue will be in Korea. This year, EASYNet will put more focus onto the National EASYNet to build up the foundation of ecumenical partnership among the movements, hence, a Primer on Ecumenism will be developed as an educational kit for the movements, as well as more support in terms of finance and resources will be given to the National Student and Youth Gatherings. In addition, EASYNet will also be an active participant in the campaigns on the 6th Ministerial Meeting of the Word Trade Organisation (WTO) to be held in Hong Kong whose deliberations have a lot of impact on the pertinent issues of Education and Youth.
