Confederation of the Churches in Sri Lanka

November 30, 2008

November 30 was a historical day in Sri Lanka for the Mainline Churches (Protestant) as following 07 Mainline Churches (Denominations) in NCC united to form the Confederation of the churches after many discussions and thoughtful prayers.

They are the following: Church of Ceylon – Diocese of Colombo; Church of Ceylon – Diocese of Kurunegala; Church of South India, Jaffna Diocese; Methodist Church Sri Lanka; Sri Lanka Baptist Sangamaya; Salvation Army; Dutch Reformed Church; and Presbytery of Lanka.

The inauguration services were held in many parts of the country on November 30 and SCM Mainly participated on the service held at Cathedral the living Savior Church in Colombo and as a Student Ecumenical Movement we are very much be a part of this special event and please uphold us in prayers as we strongly believe that this will help us to get closer to the Vision of United Church of Sri Lanka under one Head Jesus Christ as the Bible Teach us.
